Everything Photo Carries a story
I am tired of the news, and today I want to show you some old pictures. Everyone has their own story about provinces. I'll try to give a brief explanation of each photo:
This is my family. Every summer, we used to escape the heat of the south and come to Shiraz. The man in the photo is my uncle, and the tall woman is my mother. The child she is holding is my younger brother, who was later executed at the age of nineteen in the Islamic Republic.
This is my student card. I got accepted to Pahlavi University in Shiraz. It's my first year,1970.
I took this photo with my friend Momtaz when I got accepted into university during the Shah era. It was taken in Shiraz in -1970 before revolution.
This is a portrait drawn by the talented Iranian artist Niloufar Ghaderizhad. It was done in The first year of the revolution.
At that time, the Islamic Republic had not yet been fully established, and my family
had not yet been targeted or attacked.
1983, October. Tehran. I had just arrived from Shiraz and Bushehr... Those were the days when the revolution had left nothing in our home. Everyone was either in prison, on the run, or executed.
This photo was taken of me by the renowned Iranian photographer, Ms. Maryam Zandi. It was during the release of my first short story collection called "Kenizu" 9 years after the revolution..1988.
